Introducing the Club 11 Plus Maths Diagnostic Tests

To help solve this problem, we’ve created the Club 11 Plus Maths Diagnostic Test Pack, designed to give parents a clear picture of their child’s strengths and suggested areas for improvement, across the full range of GL-style 11 Plus maths topics.

The Maths Diagnostic Test Pack consists of four separate tests, each focusing on a different group of topics that commonly appear in GL 11 Plus maths exams, allowing us to analyse performance topic by topic:

Test A – Number Skills & Numerical Reasoning

Topics include:

• factors

• prime numbers

• square and cube numbers

• negative numbers

• algebra

• calculation machines

Test B – Fractions, Decimals and Percentages

This test explores the important relationships between fractions, decimals and percentages - areas that often appear in 11 Plus questions.

Test C – Data Handling & Applied Maths

This test includes topics such as:

• time

• charts, tables and graphs

• maps, plans and mazes

• coordinates

• temperature

• money

Test D – Geometry & Measurements

In this test, the following topics are covered:

• shapes and angles

• symmetry

• area and perimeter

• measurements

Together, these four tests cover the full range of maths skills typically required for GL-style 11 Plus exams.

Within each topic area, the questions vary in difficulty. Some are more straightforward, whereas others require more careful thinking and problem-solving.

This mix allows the test to assess not just whether a child has a basic understanding of a topic, but how confidently they can apply it.

After each test is completed, parents receive a detailed diagnostic report.

The report analyses performance topic by topic, showing where a child is secure and where further work may be helpful.

To make this easy to understand, results are displayed using a traffic-light system:

🟢  Green – Secure understanding

🟠  Amber – Some uncertainty

🔴  Red – Needs further work

This provides a quick visual overview of strengths and gaps.

One of the most useful features of the diagnostic report is that each topic links directly to the relevant Club 11 Plus learning modules.

This makes it easy to turn the results into a clear next step:

• identify weaker topics

• go straight to the relevant lessons and quizzes

• build confidence through targeted practice

In other words, the diagnostic test doesn’t just highlight gaps - it helps point the way to the solution.

The diagnostic tests are designed to be flexible. Children can:

• complete the four tests in any order

• take as much time as they need over each test

• complete the tests over several sessions

Although there is no time limit for completing each test, the time spent on each section of each test is recorded and included in the report, helping provide further insight into how comfortably a child is working.

Our diagnostic tests are not designed to be used as mock tests, so they aren't intended to test speed or exam technique, but instead concentrate on pinpointing current strengths and areas for improvement.

The Maths Diagnostic Test Pack is not included within the core Club 11 Plus subscription programme, but is available as a one-off purchase for £19.99.

Once purchased, the tests can be retaken as often as you like, allowing parents to measure improvement over time as children continue their preparation.
