Built For Today’s 11 Plus Tests
There is no single 11 Plus exam. Different grammar schools and consortiums use different test providers, with GL Assessment, Quest and FSCE now responsible for many of the tests taken by children across England.
That’s why Club 11 Plus isn’t based on just one exam. We’ve carried out extensive analysis of the latest assessment materials and question styles used by all three major providers to identify the knowledge, skills and question types children need to master.
Our programme covers all the core topics tested by GL, Quest and FSCE, across Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Each topic is taught clearly in our lessons and then practised repeatedly through quizzes, diagnostics and mock tests, so children build both knowledge and confidence.

All our quizzes have been created with a multiple choice format, so your child will get plenty of practice answering questions that are virtually identical to the real thing. Our team of boffins has made sure that our mountain of quiz questions, which grows bigger by the day, covers a comprehensive range of Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning topics, so your child will be fully prepared to do their very best on test day.
What 11 Plus Subjects
Do We Cover?
Club 11 Plus has been running for many years in the Bournemouth and Poole area, on the beautiful south coast of England, coaching hundreds of children through their 11 Plus tests, helping them gain places at our four excellent local grammar schools.
The grammar schools in Bournemouth and Poole only require children to sit tests in Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning, so initially our lessons and quizzes only covered the topics needed for those three subjects. But our Club 11 Plus admin team kept telling us about the emails they were getting from parents in other areas, wanting us to expand our programme to include Non-Verbal Reasoning as well - and your wish was our command! Our team of Club 11 Plus boffins and geeks have now added an impressive array of non-verbal reasoning lessons and quizzes.
At present, we don't yet include any Spatial Reasoning questions in our programme, but we plan to add them very soon!

11 Plus Maths
Maths is a core part of most 11 Plus tests, and while the exact questions vary between exam providers, there is a large amount of common ground in the knowledge and skills children are expected to master.
At Club 11 Plus, we’ve extensively analysed the maths content and question styles used by GL Assessment, Quest and FSCE, and built our programme to cover all the core maths topics tested by these providers.
We’ve divided the Maths programme into 23 carefully structured modules, each containing a series of lessons followed by subject-specific quizzes packed with 11 Plus-style problems. Once your child has mastered the individual topics, our mixed quizzes give them plenty of practice switching between different types of question - just as they’ll need to do in the real test.
The programme covers familiar Year 5 maths alongside topics that may be new to some children, helping to fill any gaps and make sure they are fully prepared for test day.
11 Plus English
English features prominently in GL, Quest and FSCE 11 Plus assessments, although the exact content and question styles vary between providers and test areas.
At Club 11 Plus, we’ve extensively analysed the English skills and question types assessed by all three providers and built our programme to cover the core areas children need to master. These include comprehension, spelling, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary and use of English, as well as the literary techniques and language skills that can appear within comprehension questions.
Children can build their skills gradually through our bite-sized lessons and quizzes before tackling short and full-length comprehensions and more challenging mixed practice. This means they don’t simply practise test questions - they develop the underlying English knowledge needed to tackle unfamiliar questions confidently.
11 Plus Verbal Reasoning
Verbal Reasoning can involve a surprisingly wide range of questions using words, letters, numbers and codes, and the exact mix and style varies between 11 Plus test providers.
At Club 11 Plus, we’ve extensively analysed the Verbal Reasoning questions used by GL Assessment, Quest and FSCE to make sure our programme covers the core skills and question types children may encounter. We break Verbal Reasoning down into 20 distinct question types, so children can learn how to tackle each one individually.
Each question type has its own lessons and plenty of practice, from cracking codes and spotting number sequences to finding hidden words and solving word and number puzzles. Once children are confident with the individual techniques, our mock tests help them develop the speed, accuracy and flexibility they’ll need on test day.
11 Plus Non-Verbal Reasoning
Non-Verbal Reasoning tests a child’s ability to recognise and apply relationships between shapes, patterns, sequences and visual information. It appears in a number of 11 Plus assessments, although the exact question types and the way they are presented vary between test providers.
At Club 11 Plus, we’ve extensively analysed the Non-Verbal Reasoning content used by GL Assessment, Quest and FSCE and developed our programme to cover the core NVR question types and skills children need. Our lessons teach children how to recognise the rules behind unfamiliar patterns and shapes, before giving them plenty of practice applying those techniques independently.
These questions can seem very unfamiliar at first, so practice makes a particularly big difference. Our quizzes and mock tests help children build the recognition, speed and accuracy they need to approach Non-Verbal Reasoning confidently on test day.
Some 11 Plus tests also include Spatial Reasoning questions, which are distinct from standard Non-Verbal Reasoning. Spatial Reasoning is not currently included in the Club 11 Plus programme, but we're working on adding it soon.
